Hi,
Last October I bought a trio of silver penciled Plymouth Rocks. The hens have the traditional and a strong penciled pattern, but I noticed the Rooster in the trio has more color than other pictures I can find online.
I trust the breeder and they confirmed he is from a coop of only silver penciled poultry (so shouldn't be crossed with any other breeds).
But wondering others opinions if a silver penciled rooster can have this much color?
I was planning to get some chicks from the trio this year but won't if the rooster will affect the silver penciled pattern of the chicks.
I included a picture of the hens so you can see the silver penciled pattern is strong on them.

There is no such pattern as silver penciled laced. There is silver penciled. And there is laced. Yours are silver penciled. The rooster has a lot of leakage "off colored/undesirable color in pattern". If your breeding quality birds and especially if your breeding to the APA standard he should not be used for breeding. If you breed birds with leakage you'll fight it for generations to breed it out.

OK, thank you! I'll update the original post to silver penciled and exclude the laced.
Sorry about that!
It's too bad about the Rooster's coloring, he has a great disposition :(

No need for sorry. Its a confusing pattern between breeds. The same pattern in Barnevelders is called (Silver Double Laced) and in Brahmas is called (Dark). Other than the leakage he is a nice looking rooster. He has good qualities otherwise. The female must have a full crop, she looks top heavy.
