What colors.can this cross create? I have 2 new Silver Laced Sebright Roosters and will have both Splash and Black Rosecomb Bantam Hens in spring.

Curious what kind of babies they could create? 🤔 I tried that chicken calc thing, but didn't see a splash from the pick a photo option.

Splash is there if you used genetica calculator, just scroll down.

Anyway, I checked my memory and it says what I think:

silver laced rooster over splash hen....all blue chicks both genders (the way splash works)...carrying lace....I think showing lace as well, though may be incomplete.

silver laced rooster over black hen....all black chicks both genders, no lacing showing although carried.

You can run it here https://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm#kipcalculator

The result should be similar with either Black or Splash as the mother, the major difference really only being in the presence or absence of the blue dilution gene. I would expect some amount of lacing-like leakage in either case, personally.

Yes. Splash is double diluter giving 1 forward which produces single diluter blue with the lacing from roo. I find single lacing gene is usually incomplete.

Black has no diluter so if full black will give dominate black single gene to all progeny so black chicks single gene lacing which won't show as black lacing on black.

Ah, I misunderstood, I thought you meant lacing as in the silver part on the Silver Sebright. I would expect varying amounts of that to show through in the offspring as leakage.

I have heard that you can detect the type of edging you're referring to on solid black with just the right lighting, but yeah, it's definitely not going to be super visible if at all on the black offspring.
