I bought chickens from tractor supply co. and at first I thought I was getting easter eggers, but turns out that's a no haha. Someone said they look like Silver Spangled Hamburg hens, but this one has a lot of black on her. Maybe a "mutt"? Any ideas? She has like a blue/green tint to her black spots that are super cool. I'd like to get more of this breed so wondering exactly what they are or an idea

Other than the brown one with the apron, they all look like Silver Spangled Hamburgs to me. The one does have some odd markings, but I think it's just a poorly-marked Hamburg, not a mix or a different breed.

It's normal for some chickens to have more black than others, even when they are the same breed and the same color variety.

Ah yeah the brown one is a ISA brown haha. I'm going to get more of the silver spangled Hamburg chickens then they're definitely my favorite breed so far.

Have you had Hamburgs before? I lost recently both my wonderful hamburg’s. One to a predator and one to fatty liver. They were such entertaining and friendly little birds. They loved foraging and I pulled tout of the tree at night more than once as a leg to roost high.

Have you had Hamburg’s before? I recently lost both my wonderful Hamburg’s, one to a predator and one to fatty liver. They were such active entertaining little birds. They loved foraging and I pulled them out of a tree more than once at night. They prefer to roost high. I read they don’t want to use a normal nest box. This was true for mine. Once I located their nests behind bushes that is where I collected the eggs. I really miss my little busybodies. Rest in pease Lulu and Lily.

I have two hamburg hens, Fanny and Wilma. Mine are not friendly at all and are very skittish towards people, whereas most of my other chickens are pretty friendly (or at the very least tolerate people). We got ours from Tractor Supply also - but they were labeled as silver laced Wyandottes...

the greenish shine is normal for some SS hamburgs. I love the breed so I'm getting a whole clutch sometime this year.
