My little black and white pulett started laying today. She came from a hatchery box of 'mixed heavy layers.' I believe she is a silver spangled hamburg. Her body shape, feathering, personality etc all fit the breed description. The mystery is that she has pale turquoise earlobes and her first egg was pale pink. Not pink, pink but creamy pale baby pink like pinky- off white wall paint. I'm thrilled! She's a darling and I love her quirky colors. I'm just wondering if this happens with hamburgs?

I looked closely at the Hamburg's comb today and it was correct for the breed. But, she's not the pink egg layer, I was misteaken. My little buff silkie is! She was on the nest for an hour today and I kept close watch out the window to see when she came out.
