After reading about tail feathers and wing feather spacing.... I’m slightly convinced this is a cockerel.

chick is one week old

My only doubt is if he/she is a day or so younger than my other chicks. This chick seems a little smaller than the others, but that might just be hope.

Any help is appreciated.

Post new pictures when this chick is at least 6 weeks old. It's just too young to guess at gender.

Are you sure it's a SLW? Legs looks pink. If it is a cross and the cross is a fast or slow feathering then the growth of wing and tail feather could throw every indicator off.

I am no expert. I have a cross that at two weeks and have no clue. I look at behavior as an early indicator too

Where is this chick from? Leg color for an SLW should not be pink like these.

Nope, not sure, got our chicks from a local farm.

The chick is from a farm in our community, could be a mix!

Wing/feather sexing only works with very specific hybrids. 99% of chickens can not be sexed this way.

I mixed our two darker chicks up! This is the Barred Plymouth Rock- duh!
