I read a lot of posts on automatic watering and most were ideas rather than something that was actually done, tested, working. It seems everything was using a large container of water to gravity feed. Mine is connected to the water spigot so there is no tank of water and it never runs out.
I ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ZX7GYK
And to reduce the pressure, I ordered this: http://www.cutlersupply.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=492
I also had to go to my local hardware store to get a few things to convert the small hose output of the pressure reducing valve to the garden hose input to the poultry waterer.
I didn't claim this was the cheapest way to do it. But it was about as easy as things get. It's working perfectly so far. On day two I saw the chickens drinking from it. They may have figured it out earlier and I just didn't catch them drinking. I left their old hanging waterer for them to use until they figured out the new one.
Hope this helps those looking for an easy solution.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
