Simulated Natural Nest Incubation~Experiment #1 So it begins....

Temps holding steady at 100.5 all day, so no drama here with temp fluctuations. I gave all the eggs a good sniff today and they all smelled normal, so no rotten ones just yet. I'm sure that would take some time and I would find those later on instead of this early on.

Ran the vaporizer in the room for most of the day to bring some moisture in the air as it's very humid outside with all this snow.

Slipped a few eggs out to candle and see if I can see anything new or different. Nope. Still just a very dark yolk(darker than a fresh egg) but the air cells look larger than a fresh egg. They all seem about quarter sized right now, whatever that may mean. The air cells seem very centered on the end, unlike those I've seen in pics of other people's eggs where the air cell seemed to be lopsided....or does that come later on?

What day are you on....broody who wasn't going to candle at all? ;-)

Well...I'm on day 6 but I had a couple of days where the temps dropped while I was gone and folks say that could have slowed down my development. Those two days of cold temps were what prompted me to candle in the first place...just wanted to see what had been done. So far I can't tell a darn thing about any of them. I've candled 6 different eggs at random and they all look exactly the same....dark yolk, air cell is easily visible and larger than a fresh egg, no veins or darker spot notable within the yolk.

Thats what I was thinking lol

Well! Now folks have got me worried that I killed the hatch with my lower temps and also I'm a little peeved that I'm supposed to be seeing something that I'm not, which would be no big deal but I cannot believe that all these eggs are duds...the chances of that are slim...so if they are not duds and they don't look like they are supposed to, what does all that mean?

Probably means I shouldn't have fallen for the pressure to candle in the first place....

That's what mine look like. Except mine are on day 17.

Mine are probably duds though.
