Simulated Natural Nest Incubation~Experiment #1 So it begins....

This is so awesome! Hatching chicks never gets old. :) I do love my broodies, but they never go broody in spring, so I'm incubating now.

Its great to see the progress here & can't wait to see your chickies Bee! :yiipchick

They are still just peeping when I puck at them but no pips as of yet. I wonder what that means. This one chick is taking her own sweet time about popping out, but lots of peeping and pushing at times. These FF eggshells are pretty tough to get through, so not sure if that is a factor or not.

My friend's very young nephew is autistic and does not speak at all. A therapist suggested they try sign language and he has begun to respond! They are only at a very basic stage, but there has been great relief that he can now communicate his needs.
Glad you suggested this! I was going to but am so new to the group.... Many parents with infants without any challenges are teaching their children basic sign language to communicate. The "experts" find that the children are calmer because they have a way to express that they are hungry, wet, etc. without crying etc. Parents are happier, too, because they can understand what their child needs without playing the "guess the sound" game.

First chick OUT.  Broody mama helped just a tiniest little bit...not too aggressively but just enough to facilitate if one had a beak and knew how to use it.  Chick is big!  Still tired from arrival but noisy and moving well.

Whoooo! This baby has been a long time coming! Congrats Bee
