They suggest that more for their convenience then for getting the babies out.
It's just like anything else in this life that is inevitable....that baby will come. Never met a woman yet who just kept being pregnant because her body forgot to have the baby.
I agree with all of the 'inducement' sentiment, but love these two statements in particular! So, so true!!
Unless the baby is in distress I see no sense in inducement, other than the convenient scheduling for the doctor.... I was lucky in that my doctor didn't believe in using inducement unless it was past a week overdue and the baby had some issues. He also told me to continue my normal physical activity level during my pregnancy, basically his opinion was that my body was used to what it was doing so keep doing it, just don't overdo... (I worked full time as a paramedic, so yep, did heavy lifting and steps and all that jazz) Heck, I called off of work from the labor room! LOL
My muscles still being used meant that during labor I was better prepared... 1st baby, labor was from 3 am till 8 am... and would have been 2 hrs quicker but my water didn't break.... once they broke my water I delivered about 10 minutes later. I'm not too sure about all of the methods they use now, seems they have decided that the way kids have been born the past 2 or 3 thousand years just wasn't right so they could do better??? Sorry, I think some things just don't need messed with.
