Bee, I would have a pair of kitchen scissors handy, quickly crack shell and decapitate it. This would allow autopsy also.

Dont worry after three years online watching wars turn the world upside down ive became numb to much and aware of sarcasm lol. I know it was all in jest. Most folks seem to be very kind and loving here. I had mice infest my house one year and the first few little critters my kids cried when I used glue traps to catch them, we would gently clean them off with soap and water then release them outside but as the total count of caught each night mounted and the level of destruction and clean up increased I was ballistic and became lets say a bit unkind to fellow creatures. But im trying to find ways that are humane to use as examples for when that time comes. Since ive done rescue animals for years we have never had to put one down but I know the time will come. Ive got 6 baby kittens buried around here, 5 birds and one puppy who died in my arms after grandmal seisures from not being given shots by its first owner. Puppy mills have nothing on some animals here. I just look for best method. I got a soft heart for critters.
Im big into herbals but again finding stuff here is a challenge. Told them my mom used cayenne pepper to keep ants out people give me looks. Wevils trouble here but no "big red" gum here lol. My house in the usa was perfect eco system free of chemicals, lots of herbs. Mice well they hid under the playhouse right next to my mint patch. Rats big problem here but since im on 3rd floor and my chickens on 4th thry cant reach them unless they climb palms and we cut back end of season.

Good to know!
Yeah!I had heard, from a guy who worked for a pest control company that cinnamon was good to repel fleas. I was having a terrible time with fleas at the time. Anyway, I grabbed one off of my cat and put it into a container prepared before hand with a little sprinkle of cinnamon. That flea stayed at the other end of the container... even when I bounced it back to the other end to force it near/into the cinnamon, it always went as far away from it as it could. Then, when I tired of the experiment, I turned the container on its end which forced the flea to stay in the cinnamon. I don't remember how long it took but it wasn't terribly long. I came back and that flea was dead. I bounced the container a few times to be sure before opening it. It was thoroughly dead.
I knew I liked cinnamon!
