My husband is going to start a plant/nursery business. We're trying to come up with a good name that will stand out and be memorable. We also want to be able to provide some unique plants not common in our area. We're probably going to sell more to landscapers than the general public. We also plan on being able to sell eggs and possibly chicks within the business.

Now, as part of the back story to the name we're thinking of.. we have a chihuahua who loves the chickens. our plan is to get her a rooster costume and take a picture of her for the logo.

Funky Chicken Nursery
or Funky Chicken Farms

with a tag line of Plants and Peeps for your Perusal

any other ideas? Better names.

Give us some things to work with. The things you like and names and stuff. This is really fun! Ohh, and the area your from. Like what it's like.

I do like that idea of Plants and Peeps.

WV has lots of rolling mountains

We like gardening, hence the idea to start a nursery.

We have 7 dogs 2 cats and 20 chickens.
We live on just over 3 acres

We do like to have unusual flowers and foliage in our garden. Stuff you can't get at the big box stores.

Our last name is McDonald... but McDonald's Farm just seemed a little too obvious.

We also like reading and playing Halo, but that doesn't lend itself to a business name.

If you are marketing to a niche with high end or rare plants I would stay away from names that rhyme and silly dog costumes.

.

With the idea of not marketing to the public but leaning more toward contractors I don't know if the name is going to matter near as much as the product.

Googled your area:

Something like "Tyler Mountain Gardens", "Rocky Fork Plantation" or "Fire Creek Farms".

Just my two pennies.

That's probably good advice. I make sure to let my husband know and see if he wants to go more serious

Ironically, Tyler Mountain is the name of the cemetary right across the hill from our house.

I like Rocky Fork Plantation, we live right near rocky fork.

Rocky Fork Plantation, I like that too. It has a nice ring to it.

Or Rolling Mountain Nursery

Rocky Fork Gardens

Ok, so talked it over with DH and he agreed, need something more serious. We don't want to name after our location as there are several business that are completely different (for example the cemetary) that use our location in the title.

DH said he wants a name that conveys value and quality.

Any ideas now???

we used to have a business and thought once we advertised it would have been nice to have an "A" name since most people look in the yellow pages and call from the beginning of the list. Our name was "Ideal Services" and it was right in the middle so it wasn't so bad.

But I'd think of a name with the beginning of the alphabet.

Like... Abbey M's Nursery.

(I don't know why I thought of that... I had my thesaurus out and was looking at A names... and Abbey was a noun for "Temple" and M reminds my Mountains and it has that homey feel to it and a ring like in the Wizard of Oz's "Aunty Em," and seems easy to remember and like one of those places that would be kind and family like?

Like we have a veggie stand on the side of the road here called, Grandma's. and it really is a grandma and grandpa run business and has been here run by them for quite some time now.

And you just get a warm fuzzy feeling and your in a happy place when you go to "Grandma's." You know what I mean?

anyway... just a thought.
