Greetings!

As with most of the world, we here in Singapore have been in lockdown for a few weeks now. It has been quite a challenge keeping the kids occupied. One thing which we have been doing is watching a lot of animal videos online especially on rearing farm animals. Living in a concrete jungle like Singapore where nature is scare, any opportunity to bond with nature is much welcomed.

We are a family of 6, with 3 girls and a boy, all below the age of 7, the youngest being a year old. The kids have been fascinated with how chickens evolve, from eggs to full fledge adults. Not to mention the various species of chickens. When I shared with them that it was possible for them to hatch their own eggs and keep the baby chicks as pets, they became very excited. So we have taken the first step by purchasing an incubator on Amazon which will arrive in a week or two.

Now the next step is to find fertile eggs to hatch. We were thinking of trying to get a bunch of free range eggs from the supermarket and try to hatch them. The chances it seems are rather slim, so as a contingent, we are now actively sourcing for fertile eggs to hatch. of particular interest to the kids are the Silkie breed.

If there are any kind souls in this community who can advice us how to obtain Silkie eggs, that would be much appreciated. I have scoured the net to find some in Singapore, but thus far have been unsuccessful. Hopefully we can find some soon, else will just try our luck first with the eggs from the supermarket =)
