I have a one year old male coturnix, I’ve always joked he sings soprano. He doesn’t have a rough stepped on frog crow like my other males, and as he’s gotten older he’s gotten a little more melodious. I remember seeing someone post on here about trying to breed for singing males, has that project gone anywhere? I know according to internet mythos the Japanese actually bred them as songbirds and would have competitions until the birds/tradition got wiped out with the wars and modernization that swept the world last century. I don’t plan on breeding for melodious singers but it is a fascinating concept and a cool bit of history besides.
