My broody was sitting on a dozen eggs when a raccoon got her. 4 of her eggs survived. 1 has been pipped for 2 days now and is making progress toward hatching today. The others have done nothing. In the off chance I end up with a single chick I'm looking for anyone that has young chicks in the area. Preferably free or can trade some ~6week old chicks from standard EE hens and a rooster of my very dark egg laying line. Breed of chicks doesn't really matter but I've been trying to get my hands on just a couple sebrights or dutch bantams. I know orscheln's occasionally gets chicks in again late in the year so I'm going to check with them but none of the other feed stores around have chicks after march.
