My only chick is now 3 weeks old...is it possible to acclimate her to being outside by herself? I think it is too cold for a single chick outside, even with a heat lamp. DH thinks its ok. I would like advice from the experts!

So, what do you guys think? It has gotten into the 20's here lately.

No it should not be outside yet. A three week old chick should be under a heat lamp at 75-80 degrees, depending on it's feathering. You really should get another chick. It will be very lonely all by itself. Good luck.

I have twelve more eggs in the bator right now, so hopefully she will have company soon. She was the only one that hatched from my last batch.

I've never had a chicken in the house , but I have some good heated brooders , seldom had just 1 chick either , what kind ob incubator do you have .

I would wait until at least 6 to 9 weeks in warmer weather, maybe longer in winter months...
