Single Chick Struggles

Hi all, I am struggling with my chick and was hoping for some advice. I had 3 eggs in the incubator but only one ended up hatching. She is 2 days old but doesn't seem to be learning. I haven't seen her eat or drink on her own yet. I drip water on her beak and she will drink that, or I will dip her beak in the water. But she hasn't drank on her own. She pecks at everything but doesn't eat much food. Any advice?

At 2 days old she still has that absorbed yolk sack sustaining her. Just hang in there and keep encouraging her to drink /eat. I find tapping the edge of the water dish/feed dish with my fingernail to mimic what a mother hen does sometimes helps get their attention in the right direction.

Do keep a s posted on progress with chick.

I am sure you already know chicks need friends. A mirror can help with the loneliness and even encourage pecking/eating.

Yeah, I will put a mirror in with her. She gets a lot of attention from my family.

She turned 1 week old on Thursday, she has an older pullet staying in the same room as her healing from an injury. They keep each other company. The chick has started getting wing feathers.
