Single drake with 11 chickens?

Hi - Thank you all for your advice about not keeping two boys to one girl. The ducklings are now seven weeks old and my sister has said she'll take one of the boys....if I think it would be a good home for him. She has 10 chickens, one rooster that free range during the day. Would the drake be extra lonely with only chicken friends? Do I need to get him another duck playmate?

And how long until they start to mate? In other words - how long can I wait until I have to give one up

As long as you don't mind him sexually molesting your hens frequently, he should do fine. My duck was pretty relentless, especially to this one hen. He wouldn't leave her alone.

If they are cooped up, the drake will mess with the chicken hens. When I was a kid we had to separate them until we got some duck hens.
