single pigeon

Ok. I was wondering if a single pigeon could hatch eggs. I have a male pigeon that lost his mate and she laid 2 eggs. Will he incubate them the entire 18 days? Thanks in advance!

I had that situation happen to me and he left the nest after a few days of being without his mate

That's happened to me too and the original daddy did sit on them for a couple of days. I can't tell you how long he would of sat on them because somehow he managed to convince one of the younger females that didn't have a mate to share the sitting time with him, just like he and his mate used to do. So now I'm wondering, since the eggs have hatched and the babies are on their own, will those two 'lovebirds' become a 'couple'? So far, everything is still up in the air with those two, but I hope it does work out as they seem to make an excellent egg sitting tag team...lol !!! So, there is hope for your lonely bird and his eggs yet !!!
