sinus pain need some home remedies

Anyone have any home remedies for sinus pain and congestion? I am dieing here, it hurts so bad. I have tried saline drops, vicks, hot compresses and warm showers. Nothing helps. I need something non-medicated because I am pregnant and don't want to put meds. in my system. Anyone have any good remedies.

Go to Wal-mart or CVS and get a netty pot. It is this little tea pot looking thing. You fill it with a salt water solution, mine came with it, but you could make your own. You will find one in the pharmacy section. You use it to rinse out your sinus cavity. I have suffered from sinus problems for years. Once I started using the netty pot I have been pain free for months. I know it sounds wierd, but you should try it!

You can also try some homemade chicken soup.

The Netti pots are supposed to be awesome.

You've got to flush out your sinuses. It's called Nasal Saline Irrigation.

take 6oz for warm water (distilled is Preferred)
1/2 teaspoon of Salt (not table salt use canning salt or sea salt. they have less additives)
1/2 tea of Arm and Hammer Baking soda (pure bicarbonate)

The amount of salt will depend on your tolerance, the more the better, but start out slow.

Use a blub syringe (baby snot sucker) stand over the sink and squirt the back of you nose. If it's uncomfortable hum.

do this twice a day. If you are interested in more information, let me know and I'll e-mail this information sheet with further instructions to you. This is directly from my Ear, nose and throat specialist.

Thank you guys. I am going to try the irrigation. I cant get to the store right now so I am boiling salt water and will breath the steam. Hope it works.

OMG. What a relief. I almost posted this yesturday but because I was in so much pain i just went and laid down. Although not 100% better I feel so much better and have a lot less presure in my head. I am gonna keep irrigating and hopefully it will clear up soon. Thank you. I have never had sinus pressure like this before. It is so painful.

Make sure you keep it up. It's way better than getting hooked on nose sprays, those things are evil. Hey Lonecowboy, I'd love to have those instructions to show to my DH, can you send it to me too?

In the last week my mom talked to me about netti pots & just saw a 6 Feet Under episode that had them. I have NEVER before heard of this - now 3 X in one week.....guess I will try next time the sinus's act up.
