Sitting in Pakistan - Trying to Find How to Import Hatching Eggs

All: Thanks for the info and the time you took to post it. It is very informative and interesting. I know on Eggbid there are new imports for sale, and eggs too. The price on these are huge.

Just wanted to say thanks. HenZ

You know, many people working with imported breeds that are starving for new blood, often say they have "new imported" bloodlines, trying to capitalize on notarity and higher prices for eggs they sell. I have called out several of these people.Ask them to show you a copy of their actual Import permit, and if they do,then call the port of entry for the eggs that was sent and ask to speak with the Sargent in that US Customs office, give him the permit number and the issue date so he can validate this for you.

If this person cannot show you these papers, they are either flat out lying to you,or they had the eggs smuggled in the country illegally, and to me,smuggling eggs and then selling offspring from them,is wothless, because they cannot be "proven" to be any better than whats already out there. Also buying from people that do have eggs smuggled in for them should be reported to the USDA. If breeders use these tactics to better themselves, what does that tell you about the ethics of that breeder in general?

To me,they are at the bottom of the pile, worst of the worst.Breeders who do take the time, spend the money and do importing legally should willingly want to prove their birds are "new"and should be justly rewarded for it.

Thanks for the great info

I too am looking to eventually import some eggs. Mainly because there are so many beautiful breeds of chicken that we don't have in New Zealand. And the breeds we do have could most definately do with some new blood.

I know the customs deals at my end but am looking for someone in the US (an allowed to import from country) who has done it before and knows the routine at their end.

The link above is international airline service for pets. I would think that these folk have the answers. You may have to prove that the parentage has certain vaccinations if you transport an egg rather than a chick

Thank you for the replies. I am only interested in importing hatching eggs and not chicks. The breeds I am interested in are mainly ornamental. Phoenix is one breed I would definitely want to acquire and also some standard versions of Polish and Sultan. While Polish is available here in Pakistan, it is still rare and in a very small variety of colours.

Do you think eggs can be taken in the airplane as accompanies baggage? I mean taking two dozen or so eggs with me in the accompanied hand bag.

Faithfully,

Shahnawaz

Have you had any luck with the question asked??

There have been other people from Pakistan asking these questions Shahnawaz,

I dont think they had any success either.

I know from the UK it is very difficult and you have to be registered with a lot of govt agencies to even be considered to be able to export and due to the care required to ship eggs I think most places would feel that the likely positive outcome would be so hit and miss that they do not attempt.

What eggs are you looking for?
I am looking Australorp eggs to import to Pakistan. Are live Australorp birds or eggs permissible into pakistan
