Six day old Americana chicken (one of 6 chicks)- she has been eating and drinking and pooping regular but seems to have an issue walking. She kind of waddles forward a couple steps and then stops and rests. She can stand fully and I’ve seen her do it a couple times over the last 24 hours, but it is very rare. Her feet appear normal and don’t seem to be splayed out to the sides. When I pick her up, she has pulled one leg up before but not every time. I haven’t really been handling her in case of injury. Nothing visually seems wrong with the legs and if I do pick her up, she just curls in my hand and rests.

Can you get some Poultry Cell and give her 3 drops daily for a few days. Or use super B complex tablets and crush 1/2 of one into a little water and feed to her. Can you post a picture of her standing evening if you have to hold her up with someone else taking the picture? They can get stepped on or trampled and the important thing is that she gets enough to eat and drink.

Thank you so much for the reply! I will get the poultry cell today and start it. I’ve attached a couple pics of her standing.

She is a cutie. In the pictures her left foot seems turned in. I would keep observing her legs. There are leg bone deformities in chickens where the leg can bow in or out. Those are called varus or valgus deformities. Some may have a slipped hock tendon in the back of the lower leg. Sometimes they can have a twisted tibia, but I don’t see anything yet. The vitamins can help if she is just having some trouble.
