six eek olds going into coop with one year olds help

It ain't gonna be pretty. Make sure they have plenty room to run and little ones can't run fast. The older birds will hate them as intruders. Better wait til they are about 12 weeks. Make them a seperate pen, if you must.......Pop

I've been putting my babies (7 weeks old) in with the 1 year olds for a couple of hours for 2 weeks. Today I am keeping them in all day and all night. So far, so good.

Everyone still alive this morning

I also have been putting my 6 weekers in with my year old hens daily for over a week now. I never even had my older hens blink an eye at the babies. What I did was bring my babies out into the run while the older ladies were locked in their coop. I let the babies run around for an hour. eat play and so on. I took then to the coop door to let the older ones see hear and smell them and they made ALOT of noise in the coop, lol. I brought 1 year old hen out at a time. Let her get used to the babies for about 10 minutes and just did this while I monitored the situation and eventually all the birds were integrated and no one had a single issue! It blew me away but Ive hear more and more stories about people introducing birds this way and it really works better than the enclosed pen idea...As far as MY not work for everyone but it definitely works for me! :) I only hope the next batch of fluffy butts that arrive in a few weeks will be just as easily integrated into the flock as these babies were.....

Good Luck to all and GOD BLESS!!!!

Can you put them in a large dog crate for a few days in the coop and then start letting them out to free range together? That has worked well for me with no picking issues.
