Six month old chicken mysterious illness

Six month old chicken has never laid egg. Lethargic, drooping wings ,falls down uses wings for balance. Appetite ok drinks. Just separated her from flock. Do not have funds for vet! Antone can you please advise? Pet of my 6yr old

How long ago did she present these symptoms? Are her eyes and nose clear? Is she sneezing or wheezing?

Hi Jim, no sneezing or weezing. Symptoms getting worse over past couple of months. I am hoping isolation from flock will make her stronger, two days no change I plan on 5 days or so before we put her down. Spoke to vet on phone, she said could be worms. Do over the counter dewormers work? This is my first flock, have so much to learn! We love our Einstein!

Have these symptoms been going on for 2 months?

If it were worms, she would be dead by now...IMO.

I would give this vitamin therapy a shot...

.5mls poly vi sol, without iron, daily
400 ius vitamin E twice daily.

Keep her isolated in a quiet place. Make sure she is eating well. If she isn't, mix crumbles, water and yogurt together in a mash and see if that tempts her into eating.

Most people seem to like Safeguard as the OTC dewormer and Valbazen if you want to order it online.
