Growth rates can depend on a number of different things, starting with genetics. Some poults cannot process food as efficiently as others. Any original size difference can often be directly associated with the original egg size. Bigger eggs produce bigger poults but that size difference can disappear within a week.I have two new turkey poults and they are different in size despite they're both 3 weeks old. I have not experienced this before with prior turkeys any idea what could be the cause?![]()

Males will grow faster than females also.
In this case I suspect that the smaller one has been eating the wood chips which it cannot digest unless it has appropriately sized grit in its system.
Do not keep turkey poults on wood shavings unless you are providing them with appropriately sized grit.
