Mine started on an 18% protein from day 1 to 4 weeks. Now they are on a 17% protein. So I think this is why they are growing slower. Most are 90% feathered at 5 weeks. The idea was to avoid growth problems, ascites and heart attacks. But I have a few with vargus leg deformities (like your 1) and one died of ascites. Apparently males are more prone to their right leg twisting outwards (weird).if your birds have all their feathers they may have been putting some of that protein into building feathers. Mine were inside until 3 weeks, and my neighbour put hers out in the barn with a heat lamp right away--- at 5 weeks hers were way better looking, more feathers, but mine were 25% bigger at that age.
