Size?

Mine are sweethearts! Maybe I just got the best runners in the world, by some miracle!

When I had Runners, they were high energy. Not crazy, just a lot of energy.

Ducks do not like to be picked up, so people who insist on picking their ducks up can end up with ducks that get freaked out whenever they are approached.

My Silver Appleyards are huge ducks, but you sure wouldn't mistake them for geese. They aren't even as tall as the gander's wings. They are gorgeous ducks and very calm and quiet, but not for people who want tiny ducks.

My runners are lovely. My two boys are especially friendly and hang around with me all the time. The girls would come up Guo be and be fairly friendly if the boys would give them a chance! We've also got 4 of their babies that I part-incubated and are hoping they'll be nice and friendly. I also agree with Oregon Blues, ducks don't like to be picked up, even if they're sweethearts, so don't rule out runners! They're such fun, and very pretty!

Oh no, I never pick up my ducks except for when it's absolutely necessary (like right now, I have to transfer them back into their brooder in the kitchen at night). They hate it, but they always seem to forgive me for it!

But yeah, I am just looking for friendly ducks... if I want to cuddle, I have other pets for that.

I went into ducks just hoping for them not to be terrified of me (like my chickens are) and they have exceeded all my expectations. They talk to me, beg for treats, and even allow me to pet them sometimes. So sweet.

Really? I was told to steer clear of runners because they were very skittish (in fact, the girl used the word "psychotic"). That was enough to warn me away from them after my very poor experience with my Silkies (who, despite being doted on several times daily as chicks, won't hardly let me near them).

If I ever see silver appleyards or call ducks locally, I'm a goner. I'll come home with a dozen of them. LOL I'm just looking at breeds that I can easily order online.

Thanks Grannycarol, I had no idea scovies were so large! I like them but I guess I won't be getting any.

I have both runners and WH ( metzers and holderreads stock) and my runners are the calm sweet ones and my WH are the skittish ding bats. I LOVE how WH look but am seriously thinkin about giving up on WH.

Muscovy are larger especially the males.. Not sure what my two drakes weigh but it's noticeable weight when you lift them lol I prefer a bigger duck but we free range.
