Skilies just started laying

We have 2 roosters and 5 hens. Yesterday we got 3 eggs and this morning we got 2 eggs. When we checked on them last night the 3 eggs were cold. And when we checked this morning the 2 new eggs were with the 3 from the day before. My question is how do I know if the hen is going to sit on her eggs will she start sitting after the first egg is laid or after she has laid several?

Usually a hen will set after she has layed several eggs. They have to lay out their eggs before they can truly set

So it's okay if the eggs are not warm all day?

Yeah, I always leave my eggs outside with the hen I want to set. I still get pretty good hatch rates.

It isn't advisable to try to hatch eggs from hens that just started laying. The eggs are usually too small to allow the chicks to grow properly. The eggs get bigger after a few months. Look up the recommended weight for hatching eggs for the breed before letting a hen try to hatch them.
