Hi all... pardon me for the question but my husband & I are first time butchers. We butchered 1 of our hens today and while doing that, one of the bones poked into my husband's finger. Just wanted to know whether that is a cause for concern?

Your input will be very much appreciated!

As lollipop said, I wouldn't be too concerned. Just wash well, put on antibiotic cream and cover. Might want to make sure the tetanus shot is current.

Welcome to BYC, you will love it here!

Ditto what cometMom said. Just watch for infection like you would any cut or puncture. But make sure that tetanus shot is current. We need them anyway working around chicken wire and other sharp prickles. Jean

just like any potential bacterial infection, wash it clean, pour on the hydrogen peroxide, dab with neosporin or bacitracin, and cover with a bandage/bandaid. It's no more serious than any other intrusion. Don't be paranoid.
