Mites, lice, but that is also a popular spot for feather picking. Make sure protein levels are 16-20%, there is adequate room in the coop. and there are some things of interest to occupy their time. Sevin Dust 5% is great for mites, also permethrin, but coop and nest boxes will also need to be sprayed with Permethrin or Ravap if mites are present. I don't use it in my garden anymore, and don't use anything on my lawn, but sevin dust is used on my chickens if they have lice or mites. The only bees that come in my coop are wood borers.

My Chickens are allowed to adventure in my yard to play and range,

Do I need to treat the yard for mites?

I use seven dust on the fire ant hills in my yard it is so far the only thing that helps keep them down.

I read somewhere that it is no longer advisable to use with poultry or other animals as it has been deemed unsafe,

Are you are still using it with success?

Do I need to worry about eating the eggs if I use it in coop and on Ladies? I have a 2 yr old gran daughter that is here 2 days a week.

I have 7 hens and 2 bantam roos - the coop is 8*8*8 and the run is 8*24*6

I was also told to use sulfur and wood ash have you had any luck with that?

I don't recommend treating the yard with mitecides, but the coop and run. Many people use 5% Sevin dust because it works with an acute mite or lice infestation. For general prevention, you can use wood ash in dust bathing spots, and make sure they have a good dust bath area. Neem oil can used to treat roosts, but if you have a sudden infestation, sometimes it helps to treat with bigger guns such as Ravap or Permethrin sprays in the coop.
