Hello! I am a new chicken mom... and one of my one month olds seems very thin. it's growing very slowly (it's a barnyard mix so who knows, could be a bantam?) It's almost half the size of my other one and I can feel its chest bones and everything. I feed them regular medicated chick feed. they get as much as they want and sometimes I give a few meal worms. it's also JUST now getting some feathers. it was quite naked for a while. But beyond looking smaller because of that, he just feels so thin and light. Here it is on the left, and the other for comparison... It's hard to tell because it's stretched out here with the size difference... but you can see how thin it is. What can I do to help him gain weight??? It's behavior seems pretty normal. activity level and health seem normal.

Probably probiotics and a vitamin/mineral/amino supplement.

I use Gro2Max (probiotic) in chicks' first water as well as NutriDrench as a nutritional supplement.

Mine are on chick starter that has probiotics and they drink electrolytes (my faverolle drinks non stop when it's warm and needed them - so I gave it to all of them) does the nutridrench go in the water? and THank you

Nutri-Drench goes in the water. Dosages according to age are on the label.
Gro2Max can be in food or water but I prefer the water because it mixes better than in a dry delivery.
I like Gro2Max which is a blend of yeasts and bacteria formulated specifically for chickens and was developed in Egypt. A bag of Purina Flock Raiser for example has 3 different probiotic products. Gro2Max has 5.

So I got the nutri-drench and I wanted to give it directly to her and I got a 1ml syringe and did the calculations for her weight, but I can't get her to open her beak. How can I convince her? I can't find info on giving meds via syringe and getting them to open up.
