They very well may have a FUNGAL INFECTION in their digestive systems.
Fungal infections usually are undiagnosed because the symptoms can be vague, etc. Fungal infections in the digestive tract can be caused by eating moldy food or bedding. It will cause birds to lose weight, weaken & gradually starve to death.
I lost three hens to starvation from this as I tried to carefully nurse them over the course of several months, without knowing what I was fighting nor what treatment should be until almost the end.
I have created a page on Fungal Infections on my website linked in my sig below, to try to help others with their birds.
The page lists an easy-to-use, non-risky treatment that can bring a very good chance of success--Oxine AH. I so wish I'd known about it when my hens were dying. I keep some on hand nowadays to clear up environmental risks as needed, & to give my chickens if they accidentally are exposed to signficant mold. It might be helpful for your birds.
If your chickens have a fungal infection, simple antibiotics will be damaging for them because the antibiotics will also kill good bacteria in your chickens that can help fight off fungi, but will leave the fungi unharmed & free to continue growing with less opposition.
