10 to 12 hens per roo is a good ratio, I have heard as low as 8 hens per roo.
I have silkies too and my roo is very docile and doting to the hens. He is the sweetest boy I've ever had. I think this is rather common among the breed, always exceptions though :-D
If you are going to have multiple roos and hens in the same coop/run area, it is a very good idea to have 2 feeders and 2 waterers so that each boy and his girls will have a place to drink and feed.
This cuts down on the competition between the roosters dramatically.
