I've finally finished the run. It's a 10x10 dog kennel with 1/2" hardwire cloth all the way up from bottom to top.
Here's the problem. If I'm going to end up moving it at the end of the summer, I don't really want to bury the rest of the hardwire cloth. So, I'm "skirting" it- about 24" out, rather than burying it straight down into the ground. Seeing as it's nestled at the bottom of the "backyard" deep in predator country, I want to do all I can.
At this point, I can't afford hotwire via a solar charger. So, if I attatch the skirt, cover it with mulch or similar material, even maybe place occasional stones around the edges in addition to the steaks, will this be enough to at least deter diggers? Opininions and Suggestions welcome!
ETA: I've got a heavy population of coons and 'possums, occasional skunks and foxes near the house, as well as a pack of coyotes, possibly mink, and the occasional wandering bobcat.
