This is a thread for anybody who has or likes skulls. I’ve seen some skulls with some beautiful decorations or some that are just beautiful in general. If you have any, definitely share. I have 3 that I found buried in tall grass in my neighbors pasture. I’m hoping to one day hunt and earn my own skull. If you have any, definitely share pics of them and what type of animal they’re from. I would love to see them. @aart

Here’s some of mine the one with a snake is a hog skull and the one with the chicken is a deer skull.

Oh. I've mentioned it a couple places but I actually clean my livestock and pest animal bones with dermastid (flesh eating) beetles. :) Some of them I pull out of my compost piles.

All domestic rabbit. Big to little these skulls are; adult (found in compost), 20 weeks (beetle cleaned), Unknown age but probably 12 weeks (found in compost, bleached), three kit skulls ranging from 6 days to 2 days, not yet fully dry.

That’s a great idea to keep your livestock skulls, I should do that next time.

I've bought some of mine, found and cleaned some, some were gifted to me.
Have use maggot cages, both in the air and semi buried, and bleach soaks.

Using dermestid's would be great.
Is that how you did the cockerel skull @ChocolateMouse and do you keep a colony?
Had a turkey skull that I over soaked, all the cartilage 'melted', never could get it back together.

Yes and yes. The bottom portion is not attached to the top but all the bones, even the tiny ones are pristine. No soft tissue left. Depending on how much is there they may or may not leave tendons and the like that are "hard" soft tissues. A bigger colony means a faster clean and bigger skulls.
