The radio trick does not work all the time. Occasionally wildlife will even hunt with you present. Talk radio is generally quite offensive but some wildlife are probably members of the Tea Party so probably get incited into action by such.

I've added 2 500 watt halogen work lights and they seem to be working for now, but I'm not sure how they will effect the electric bill. I'm trying to think of something that will add motion somehow, but haven't come up with anything.

How does critter get access? Are birds in structure with openings? Do they roost low to ground (important for defeating skunk)? Are they like some of mine roosting under stars? Last situation just about requires dog.

I don't know. I've inspected the fencing, and it's okay. Of course, if it's an owl than all bets are off. Yes, they're roosting in a little 3 sided shed. They have other options, but seem to prefer it.

We ended up putting netting over our run for an owl problem....we had the same type of killing going on several years ago and it was a weasel! Caught the little bugger in a trap and the killing stopped. A guardian dog has stopped most of our problems...

Instead of playing the guessing game buy a game camera and you will be assured what's coming around at night.

In less time required to determine ID with camera the predator can be convinced to go elsewhere. Cameras are great for seeing who visited but can result in delayed action.
