We had one get in our henhouse. Had to make a temporary divider in the chicken run to keep the girls away from the door while we tried to coax the skunk into leaving. Bring out the traps and guns.

Skunks first go after eggs, then baby chicks, etc. Possums will grab a full grown chicken.
 
if they get the opportunity they will eat the chickens but if they are up high the skunk probably wont climb up to get them and then just eat the feed
lucky he did "go off in the coop" not only would it smell but you would have too
