We bought 150 pullets in March. Everything was going well until today. I caught a skunk in my coop that had killed 30, 3 more would die later, and 6 more are in infirmary. What I saw with my own eyes is a skunk that bit the back of the birds heads in order to kill. Some of them were suffering so badly we had to terminate them. Why did this skunk do this? He didn't eat any. I just don't gret it and we are devestated over our loss.

We are having same issue. Lost five or six pullets we got in April. Smelled him by my adult flock pens as well, on other side of farm. Later that night, held up in our barn adjacent to our pullet pen. (smelled again) They are up for the night, so are safe. Husband is live trapping him tomorrow. They kill for SPORT. Crossing fingers. FYI: scratches by the pen, a very determined skunk, dug quite an impression out trying. We have fence buried under coop so he will not be victorious. Another note: I swear I saw him a couple times out of the corner of my eye. I assumed it was our cat. Not too afraid of us humans. I foresee a problem this year with them.
