Just thought I would put in my 2 cents (scents haha.) Last year a skunk killed some older hens I have. We bought a wire trap and caught it, then the game guy told us where to let it go. In the future, I would put a tarp around the cage before setting the trap.

Today there was skunk smell again. The chickens seem unmolested, but we will put away food at night now, and a light on the chickens. I hope that will keep them away. I also put extra barriers (laid down loose boards) around the edges of my coops so there will be no digging.

Sorry for your loss! Did he get into the coop? We have skunks around here, but I have never worried that they would attack the chickens.
