Was out closing up my coops this evening and something caught my eye in the horse pasture....TWO BIG SKUNKS! So I grab anything I could get my hands on and chucked it at them....well after a few flower pots, buckets and spare wood pieces....you would think they would go away.....NOPE! Once my husband came out there were two small skunks burrowing under the horse barn and THREE large skunks just strolling around the pasture like we weren't even there! I won't go into detail on what happened next, let's just say the Good state of Nebraska now has two less skunks...

ANYWAY....on to my question....will strobe lights deter predators? My teens had a couple so I dug them out and now the back of one of my coops looks like a dance party! good thing our neighbors are far away! :). Has anyone tried this?? Or something similar?

Don't know about the strobe light but I must say it sounds cool.

I wanna know is whether or not it's judicious to toss things at skunks?! I saw my first skunk this year and quietly walked away in fear. Maybe I should've lugged something at it!

Lol no definitely not the wisest thing....just thought they would get away from coop if I spooked em! Clearly they weren't "spooked". :/

Skunks don't see very well. Not sure how that would work. We think we might have a skunk family living under our house and a contractor just told me that if I took a pair of old socks..stuffed one inside the other and tied it in a knot...then soaked it in ammonia and tossed them under my house they would leave. He said the smell dissipates over time, but it works long enough to chase them out.
