Dappledsnow looked at them sharply. "March in groups. Try to stay in neat lines."

Tentatively, Callisto stiffly nodded and stood behind Lotusleaf, straightening and holding her body tightly.

Flip turned to him. "Well, hello, young Evander. I hear you and Sienna have been busy." He winked, and then grew serious. "How have I been?" His face grew worried. "That's a tale I'll tell later. Tonight. When the time is right."
Then, turning slightly, he caught sight of Silver. "Oh, Silver, my dear," he greeted her. Blinking back tears he nuzzled her warmly. "I've missed you so much."

Lotusleaf straightened and marched, effortlessly and perfectly. Her tail touched the ground in perfection.

Lotusleaf began marching.

(I wonder how this looks, a bunch of horses all marching in a line.....)

SilverSun began marching as well, her head and neck perfectly arched.

(It's fine.)
Yang smiled. "Thanks. Would you like to meet the rest of the herd? It's pretty small at the time," she replied, motioning to the four other horses who were scattered about the clearing.

"Yes" he said holding his finely etched head proudly.

(What is he, anyway? There are Spanish Anglo-Arabians, Spanish Barbs, Spanish Colonial Horses, Spanish Mustangs....)
"Well, over there's Aiden," she said, motioning with her head to the young Black Tobiano NSH stallion. "Azaria and Barro are over there." Standing near the trunk of one oak were a dark Zweibrücker mare and an Azteca stallion. "And last of all is Cygnet," Yang said, looking to the white Asil mare who was grazing in the middle of the clearing.

Bandit breathed a sigh. He had grown so much more mature. "That's better left for later," he whispered softly, mysteriously. "Right now I need to get them cleaned."

"Would you like help?" She asked sweetly.

The tendons in his neck tightened. "No, thank you," he stuttered stiffly. Then he galloped off toward the Drinking Pond. His mane waved, exposing a huge, jagged wound. The claw marks looked to be that of wolves, but were strangely alien...

"Oh, yes they were," he remembered. "Someday I'll tell you your grandfather's story."

"Grandfather! I've never met him, what was his name?" Esther asked, her curiousity peaking.

Flip turned back to her kindly. "Black," he said, simply. "Just call him Black."

And the lightbulb clicks on..........
Lydia's eyes grew large and she walked off.

InkHeart followed after her.
