"What's wrong?" he asked, seeing her sad expression.

"Notiing" she said sadly tears briming at her eyes.

Lucky! We haven't had rain in, well, I don't know when we last had rain.

It will rain all the way to the end of our driveway and then stop! How does that happen?

*sigh*

Yesterday and the day before were finally not rainy at all, and warm and sunny.

Unfortunately I awoke today to thunder and lightning.

Half-smiling gratefully at Flip, she lowered her head and stepped under the protection of the mighty trees' boughs, the dry, brown leaves on the ground crunching under her hooves. She took a moment to shake out her pelt, flaying tiny droplets of water about. Wincing as the next contraction racked her body, she restrained her fetlocks from buckling, and collapsing altogether in a heap.

Flip stood, stretching out his neck to nuzzle her. Now there was little he could do; he would simply wait and graze slightly outside the thicket.

BirdNut struggled not too get too descriptive...

Silver heaved weary breaths when the foal's hooves were exposed to the chilled air of the rainy evening. Labor was going slow and she was exhausted already.

"What is it? I know it is not nothing" he said, looking into her eyes

Tears began spilling down her cheecks. "Snow wont let us" she said stuttering over the tears. Pools began foring at her feet.

(how could pools form at her feet while they are standing out in the rain?) A single tear rolled slowly down his cheek. "We can't give up hope" he said, eyes pleading.

Flip hadn't experienced many births, but he knew well enough that unless something unusual began, he should leave all well alone.

SilverSun stood uneasily under a tree, looking up at the sky with her large, beautiful icy blue eyes. She paced around a bit, whinnying quietly as lightning flashed in the horizon, lighting up the sky. Her marvelous white coat glistened from the cold rain water, her mane sticking to her neck.
