She rejected shadowflax. i remember when she left the herd to foal, since she the lead mare wasn't keeping the herd together and my mother was napping no one noticed when i snuck after her. first shadowflax's brother was born first, i remember wondering why she didn't clean him like mother had cleaned me. then shadowflax was born and she didn't cleen her either, she just stood there. i was so worried that the little babies where going to suffacate because no one cleened the gunk out of the nose and mouth, but they somehow managed without it. there mother had fallen asleep after all that work and the 2 foals staggered to there feat and tried to nurse, shadowflax managed to get a few drinks before there mother woke and cow kicked them away. I was very happy shadowflax had managed to get some colostrum in before her mother left them. once there mother was gone i ran forward curious about why they where left to the wolves. i didn't see anything wrong with them so i asked if they wanted to come back with me.' bill smiled lightly 'I will never forget the look little shadowflax gave me. she looked at me and said ' i will go bwy my swelf' she said with the proudest little expression on her face. she turned and nipped her brother in the butt- yes she was already doing that- and started in the wrong direction. i told her she was going the wrong way and she started in the right direction without even looking at me. I followed after. when we reached the herd i was a little worried that there mother would hurt them again. I didn't know it wasn't there mother wasn't the problem. The lead stallion charged forward and i was worried about myself being a stallion and hid. He demanded to know what the two foals came from. when no one answered he without hesitation picked up shadowflax' s brother by the neck and shook him killing him. little shadowflax cowered terrified. when he was done with her brother he demanded that someone raise the little filly. my mother was from a different herd and still had a heart. she came forward and offered to take her. She was pretty tramatized by the murder of her brother but she came.' bill paused and looked out of the corner of his eye at rocket. 'her brother looked exactly like u. u being not only another living being but a stallion that looks exactly like her brother is probably why she hates u so much. Anyway i showed her around and we lived togeather for 6 weeks with my mother. But then my mother caught some disease, she didn't make it. We where too young to be weaned but some how we made it. shadowflax had been very close to my mother-our mother- but she's tough and she didn't let that get to her like it should have. We got skinny and sick and wormy but we eventually got slowly better. We where always harrased by the other horses for being different and weak. The lead stallion was a power crazed monster, he wanted more mares and more land. I'm still surprised he overlooked me enough not to kill me. We where bestfriends, we stood up for each other and helped each other. When we reached about 10 months the lead stallion started to take more interest in the both of us. Shadowflax was born of his strongest lead mare and was a twin which is genetic so she would probably have twins whick would expand the size of his herd faster, i think he was going to force breed her at an extremely young age. He saw me as a growing stallion and was ready to kill me. I tried to be good, it irritated shadowflax me being so submissive and obediant. He didn't seem to be impressed. Even though i was awful shadowflax stuck with me. I got scared one night and left without telling shadowflax. As soon as i was gone i knew i'de done the wrong thing but i was to scared to go back. After about 2 moon cycles (months) i had to go and get her, being away was painful. I snuck back in the middle of the night-this was an extremely hard task seeing as it was very heavily guarded- but she didn't seem to be there. I got caught but i was able to rub fast enough to escape. I looked for her for months but she had seemed to disappear. I was heart broken. Ever since i've been wondering around fighting and stealing mares i guess looking for a mare that could take shadowflax's place. I didn't find one.' as he said this he looked over at shadowflax who was watching the two of the suspiciously like she knew they where talking about her. she swished her tail and went back to grazing. bill put his head down in shame his heart aching. 'I think thats why she hates all other horses. The way we where raised and then me her only friend left and who knows what happened when i was gone. it makes me sick to even think about it and then after she ran away. when i saw she was gone i figured she must have been killed when i was gone. I still searched for her but when i couldn't find her i thought the worst.
