Dappledsnow swallowed back a grin and an amused chuckle.
"Well, you're welcome here... get in the line." He gestured to the row of horses.

"You all! I want your names and ages."

"Well, you're welcome here... get in the line." He gestured to the row of horses.

"You all! I want your names and ages."

Lotusleaf pranced quickly over and stood. "I am 3 years old. Name is Lotusleaf." She said quickly.

He studied her, his dark eyes calm. "You are not being forced to," he stated gently. Then, standing up taller and raising his voice: "I will require each and every mare in good condition, i.e. not near to foaling, not injured severely, etc., to fight when war erupts. The same goes for each stallion and gelding, and every foal that I deem old enough. Is this understood?"
