Spirit by the pond, watching his maginifcant reflection. He blew his thick black mane out of his solemn face. Despite living in the wild, Spirits golden coat shone. His soft black muzzle brushed the top of the cool pond, breaking his reflection. Spirit sighed deeply, hurt still swirling in his dark eyes.

Esther, now a beautiful young mare, glided over to the other side of the pond. She sighed with relief upon finding water at last after her long trek through the woods. Quickly, Esther lowered her soft, velvety muzzle into the clear water and lapped it up. Her thick, unruly two-toned mane fell into her gentle brown eyes.
