Slant Roof HELP? Corrugated Metal

Quote:
No, sorry, perhaps I did not explain well -- the corrugations DO go up-and-down like you show them in your diagrams, but the 2x4s that SUPPORT the roofing and that it's screwed onto have to go SIDEWAYS.

Does that make sense?

Let me see if I can google up a diagram...

Yes I under stand what you are saying.

Here is the back of the coop. It has to be stained still.

It has 1/2" insulation board, with 1" barn old on top.

I think I have figured out how I want to do everything. My question now is. Should I leave open the 2" gap that will be at the top in the back between the braces. Or should I close them up with trim. As you can see I have vents now that can open or close weather permitting. And also the front chicken door will be open full time.

Will having a 2" vent at the top be too cold in the winter. I think it would work just fine. I have a 6" vent all the way around my other coop. But it has large chickens in it not silkies.

I used corrugated plastic for my roof so I had a similar thing to figure out. I decided to use the plastic strips that they sell with the roofing to close the gaps, figuring that I wanted ventilation to come from my vents (that I can open or close at will) rather than from gaps in the roof that I can't control. I'd hate to be out there some freezing night thinking "how can I close off some of these gaps in the roof right now?"

If it is on the W or N side of the coop, you may have to have it closed off a fair amount of the time in the winter; but as long as you *can* close it off when you need to, I'd leave it open (not cover with trim), as it will often come in handy, both summer and winter.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
