Sled dog breeding

the main problem is that females tend to hold grudges. Once they fight with another female, it's unlikely that you will ever be able to trust them unsupervised ever again. It's just a sad fact of life for females - also the main reason that I prefer boys.

There is an old dogman saying "Dogs fight to breed, b**ches fight to breathe"

If it is new behavior during her heat, then she will most likely be able to be managed when there is an adult there to supervise. It's perfectly normal behavior for a female in season to pick fights with other females in the pack. At 2, she's pretty much just entering her full maturity and her behavior will change accordingly.

I don't agree with the "labs do it best" crap, Aussies or Border Colies do it best! Lol, but it's true BC's and As's do it best!

the quote means that, once there isn't a female in season close by, the 2 males will stop fighting and live peacefully. 2 females will continue fighting until one of them is dead.

That's how even my spayed dogs and unspayed dogs act. I almost lost my husky to my spayed dogs when they were fighting.

yes, it has nothing to do with intact or not. It's just a fact that some breeds are known to be same-sex aggressive. Even in those that aren't known for SSA, if 2 females decide that they don't like each other they should never be left unsupervised again.
Males tend to squabble and work out their differences and that is that.

I LOVE AGILITY!!
Well, looks like I'm getting sucked into agility anyway. Rascal loves chutes and tunnels, and Phantom was the first to take the A frame. Sasha was a bit unsure, but did what was asked of her. However, Phantom will only do agility as a way to burn energy, not as a competition. After he ran the agility coarse he was much more willing to work at obedience, I got more out of him tonight than ever before.

I have given very specific instructions to my kids to stay away from her. I also had a long chat with hubby, laying down some rules and told him he must follow them with her. When I am home, I handle her. When I am not and she needs to go out, every dog must be crated and/or removed from the area she has to walk through to go outside as well as keeping her on a leash and prong collar. He isn't too happy with me, but heat or not, this behavior is unacceptable and I won't tolerate it. She is a bully, the only reason she ended up as female alpha is the other females don't want the job. This is my fault, I explained things to my hubby, but when he didn't follow my instructions I didn't push the issue. I thought if he saw the difference between how the dogs respond and obey me compared to him, that he would come around. And this is the result. I am going to make him help me rehab Dawn, maybe now he will pay attention and realize why I do things a certain way with the dogs.

I think, since I am taking immediate action and getting on my hubby for being lazy/naive/too trusting of the dogs, that I can correct the issue. If anyone has some tips or advice on how to rehab her, please help.

Description your problem with her and the other dogs? I think I can help. I need details, and has he told you what he did to separate them? That's also very important in this prosess.
