sleeping in the nest boxes? Is this allowed?

oh gosh, its sometimes unusual what we take for granted not thinking about the poor caged ones. Granted they know no difference, but I'm glad you have them and will better their life (or so we think! LOL)

My daughter says we saved them!! They have clipped deformed beaks...which we think will grow back in time. They sing like a choir now....and peck peck peck at us!! They are the tamest hens I've ever seen....I know they are much happier with us.

Try putting your nest boxes about 18 - 20 inches off the ground and the roosts up higher than the boxes. this should entice them to go up higher on the roosts rather than in the nest boxes. I'm pretty lucky...mine go in the nest box, lay their egg and jump out...never find poo or anything but eggs in there

I find any animal that I raised from baby to adult they are nutty and also difficult at times. Yet those that I get from being a save or "hand me down", they are so incredibly grateful!
I think that once DH gets a larger coop, better roosts it will be better. Up until now, I have honestly never had a dirty nest box...so who knows. I wonder if she is being picked on up on the high roost.
Its an interesting convo tho! Thanks!
