My girls are about 3 months old. There are 6 of them and they all sleep in the same small nesting box every night - two on the bottom, two in the middle and 2 on top (they seem to rotate who's on the bottom and who's on the top). I have moved them after they are asleep - but they always go back eventually to the same crowded box. They can roost, in fact during the day they seem to love to sit on various roost poles in their coop and run. Any suggestions?

Close off the nesting boxes for a month or two, they don't need them yet.
This should get them in the habit of sleeping on the roosts instead of in the nests.
Roosts should be higher than the nests for down the road.

Thanks. and i did not know about the roost being higher than the box.
