Sleepy Chicken, please help!

Can you take some poop to get tested?
You might be dealing with worms.

I was asking about swollen joints in the feet or legs, since that can be a sign of mycoplasma synovitis, a respiratory disease that can cause bacterial arthritis. Many conditions can cause sleepiness and slowing down, but it can take time to rule out the different causes. Most chickens may have some worms, but a heavy load or cocci can be hard on them. Reproductive disorders such as internal laying or egg yolk peritonitis are very common in hens after the first year or two. Are her eggs normal or is she laying?

No, I don't think she has laid in a while. I just wasn't concerned about it because none of my hens are laying much or at all right now.

I haven't seen any worms in any of their poop. I've been watching. We wormed them in April. Should we just worm again now?

What did you worm them with and how much did you use and for how many consecutive days did you use it?
AND did you do a repeat dose 10 days after the initial treatment.
FWIW...you won't ever see worms. (I should say..you will usually only ever see the worms AFTER your worm them with correct dosages)

Could you collect some fresh poop in the morning and run it to the nearest vet for a fecal test?

Yes. I used wazine (1 oz per gallon) for one day, and then 10 days later I used valbazen (0.5 mL per chicken). I was under the impression that we do that every 6 months.
(We thought they might have had tapeworm back in April, but we haven't noticed anything unusual about their poop since we last wormed).

Do y'all think a normal vet will do a fecal test on chicken poop? I've been having trouble finding a bird vet near us.

Yes my normal dog vet is tests my chicken poop.
Wazine is for adult round worms only.
Valbazen is .08 ml per pound per chicken. You did not use it correctly.

You can see roundworms in droppings of chickens who have not been wormed, and in the next days, you may see none in the same bird's droppings. Most other worms may be more difficult to see without a microscope except for tapeworms. When a chicken is wormed, there may or may not be worms visible in the droppings. Fecal floats performed in a vet's office can be good to look for worm eggs, but they are not foolproof.

Thank you! Will get a fecal test first thing in the morning. She hasn't pooped all day today though. I saw her eat watermelon this morning but I can't get her to eat or drink anything else.

Okay thank you. I should still use the wazine before valbazen correct?

Should I just reworm now then?
Will worming a sick chicken hurt her?

Also, is the valbazen just a one time dose?
