The youngest chick is 1 week old today. Golden Penciled Hamburg. She is the tamest and has always just fallen asleep when I hold her.
Just now she was 'sneezing' with a slight slidways head shake like you or I might do when we sneeze.
She looks to be breathing heavier than the others. Still pretty slight, but if you watch her you see it. I thought maybe she was just nervous but as she fell asleep in my hands her whole body was 'breathing' which makes it more noticable. Next smallest chick doesn't seem to have the 'whole body moving' to breath.

They are on the medicated starter food. Have wood pellet bedding, no dusty shavings.

Is there anything to do for her? Does she have a cold? Is she getting something? Does she need to be isolated from the rest of the chicks?

any help appreciated. I'd hate to lose her.

Hi there. If you look at the top of the posts for Emergencies you'll see one by YETI (something about labored breathing/pulsating vent). He had a similar instance. Read his info....it should help. Good luck and let us know what happens.

She seems to be better this morning. Breathing doesnt' seem labored now, just a few sneezes.
Eating and activity have been normal all along.

I'm keeping the heat in the brooder a tad higher today. The others are growing faster than she is, so maybe she got a little cold when we took it down to 90 degrees. (She is 9 days old now).
